Snowy Egrets are beautiful white wading birds that were slaughtered almost to extinction for their fine plumes, used to decorate hats during the 19th century. Protection has enabled them to increase their numbers once again. Snowy's are very agile, often seen sprinting about in the shallow water, or even hovering as they seek small shrimp and minnows.
